Discover Konza: A journey through an African smart city

Overview: Explore Konza Technopolis, a cornerstone of Kenya’s Vision 2030 initiative aimed at creating a smart city and innovation hub. This tour offers an insightful look into the technological advancements and economic growth strategies being employed. Delegates will engage directly with top Kenyan startups, participate in a tree-planting activity, and explore the city’s innovative infrastructure solutions including water and waste management systems.

2. Drop Access Limited

Overview: Drop Access Limited, founded in 2021, addresses critical deficiencies in vaccine cold chains with innovative, sustainable solutions. Their flagship product, VacciBox, is a solar-powered refrigeration system designed for off-grid and resource-limited settings. It maintains temperatures of 2 to 8 degrees celsius for up to 36 hours without sunlight. Impacting over 35 health facilities and benefiting 400,000 people, while significantly reducing carbon emissions, Drop Access exemplifies a commitment to sustainability and improved healthcare access in underserved regions.

4. Innovate and connect: Inside the Luban IoT Lab & Jitume Hub

Location: Machakos University, Machakos 

Focus: Visit the state-of-the-art IoT Lab developed in partnership with Tianjin City Vocational College, and the Jitume Digital Enablement Programme hub.
