Resident Representative, UNDP Kenya

Anthony Ngororano (a national of Rwanda) has more than 20 years of experience in sustainable development.  He is currently serving as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Kenya, immediately prior to which he served as UNDP Resident Representative in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Prior to this he served as Chief, Executive Board Branch in the Office of the UNFPA  Executive Director in New York, USA; UN Women Country Representative in Haiti, Country Representative a.i. in Malawi and Chief, Africa Section in UN Women HQ in New York, USA.

He also served as the Senior Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister of Rwanda at the rank of Permanent Secretary. Before this he served as a Country Adviser with UNDP in the Regional Bureau for Africa in New York.  Before this he served in a range of policy, planning and programme roles with UNDP in Nigeria, Zambia and Rwanda.

Earlier in his career Anthony worked as an Investment Banker with Citigroup NA in Kenya and Tanzania. He started his career as an Economist with Uganda’s Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. Anthony holds advanced degrees in Development Economics and International Relations from the University of East Anglia and the University of Sussex respectively. He also holds an MA (Honours) degree in Economics from the University of Edinburgh.
