Bahari Ali, Abdul

The Honourable Abdul Bahari Ali holds a BA in Economics & Government from the University of Nairobi. He advanced his academic credentials with an Executive Master Degree in Public Policy & Administration from Kenyatta University.

Mr. Ali commenced his professional career at the National Carrier, Kenya Airways, where he served in the human resources department that played a central role in turning the company to profitability through a radical restructuring and transformative exercise. He later transitioned from the service industry to the manufacturing sector at Firestone East Africa, where he assumed the role of Human Resources Manager. During his tenure in Firestone East Africa, Mr. Ali refined his management skills and expertise in management union negotiations. As a team leader, he played a key role in concluding several Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).

Later, Mr. Ali ventured into politics and represented the Isiolo South constituency from 2003 to 2013. During his tenure in the National Parliament, he served in various house committees, including Public Investment, Pensions, Budget, and Local Authorities and Funds Committee.

In his second parliamentary term, Mr. Ali was elected to represent Kenya in the Pan-African Parliament in Midrand, South Africa where he served as the Vice-Chair of the Finance and Monetary Affairs Committee. This committee was pivotal in driving the strategic affairs of the Pan- African parliament and extensively engaged with the African Union commission. He also participated in election observation missions for national elections in Burkina Faso and Ghana.

In 2013, Mr. Ali was appointed as the Board Chair of Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA). In 2018, he was further honoured with the appointment to the rank of Senior Executive as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS). In this capacity, he served in the state departments of Labor, Social Protection, Devolution, and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL).
