Maria has been head of innovation and development from August 2024 after previously being CEO from June 2018– August 2024 and will from August 2024 have a new strategic position in the company as head of innovation and development. Landvetter Södra Utveckling AB, a municipality owned company in Härryda with the target to develop a smart, sustainable new regional city in Western part of Sweden. Maria is an architect educated from the University of Chalmers and has also a master’s degree in social science from Gothenburg University. She has 15 years’ experience from the building sector. She has also been a politician at a high level in the region of Västra Götaland and in the municipality of Mölndal from 2004-2018.

From 2012-to 2018 Maria was director of the Open Arena Urban Development at Johanneberg Science Park at the Chalmers/Gothenburg. The mission was to develop and coordinate collaboration projects both at national and European level. The work included coordination and planning demonstration projects in sustainable urban development where business, city and academia, and international actors are involved in triple helix.

Landvetter Södra will be a new sustainable regional city close to Göteborg Landvetter Airport between the two biggest cities in the region Västra Götaland, Gothenburg and Borås . The city will be located close to the new railway Götalandsbanan. The goal is to make it, modern, innovative, international and human.
