Zhongguancun Science Park

Zhongguancun Science Park (also known as Z-Park) is situated in Beijing, the capital of China. Established in 1988. Z-Park is China’s first national high-tech zone and the first national innovation demonstration zone. It now consists of a main park and various sub-parks, covering a total area of 488 square kilometers. Characteristic industries in Z-Park include the new generation information technology, biomedicine, smart manufacturing, modern transportation, new energy and energy conservation, and new materials. By the end of 2023, there are 28,300 high-tech enterprises, 735 listed companies, and 114 unicorn companies in the park. Meanwhile, 23 high-quality characteristic parks and 23 leading incubators have been established, generating a total revenue of 1.23 trillion USD, a year-on-year increase of 6%. Z-Park has become a powerful driver for Beijing’s high-quality development.
Z-Park has a well-established innovation ecosystem and close international cooperation. We have rolled out multi-tiered and categorized supportive policies for companies, including encouraging the establishment and growth of foreign-funded R&D centers. This has attracted numerous multinational companies, such as AstraZeneca and Siemens to set up their regional headquarters and R&D centers in the park. Z-Park is also home to nearly 500 tech company incubators, university science parks, 600 social organizations, and over 1000 professional service providers. Meanwhile, the park houses around 1800 equity investment institutions of various types, and has established eight government investment funds with a total scale of over 100 billion RMB, so as to better support the financing and growth of tech companies. Furthermore, Z-Park continues to expand international exchanges. By organizing international events such as the Zhongguancun Forum and the International Congress of Basic Science, the park has provided platforms for sci-tech exchanges and cooperation across the world.
